Do not text immediately after someone else texts you. It is often advised that you wait at least 10 minutes before you respond to another person's text. For instance, if you read a text that asks, " are you home along?" don't answer, "yes" too quickly. The idea here is to hold the person in suspense. That is the beauty of texting. You might want to read the text over before you actually send it over just to make sure the other person will understand the message the same as you.
