Many people are apprehensive about getting braces because it makes them look weird. One will have several metal brackets attached on his teeth for years. Society is used to seeing young children or teenagers get braces but often laugh at the thought of seeing adults with it. But this is no longer a problem today because several dental companies have created clear men's braces. They will provide the same results for your teeth but without the unpleasant appearance of metal wires and brackets.

Getting braces is not your decision. You have to consult your teeth problem with an orthodontist and he will tell you what to do. They are different from each other and will depend on what type of treatment you'll need. Are your teeth crooked? Do you have an under bite or overbite? Do your teeth have spaces? All these can be fixed with braces but if you want special clear men's braces, you have to tell your orthodontist right away so he can adjust the treatment for you. But before you decide on getting it, take a look at its pros and cons first:

Advantages of Clear Braces

• Ceramic or clear braces do not stain. The brackets are colored white or clear so it remains unnoticeable in a distance or in photos. The best thing about them is that it blends in with your teeth.
• Clear braces are said to be worn more comfortably than metal ones. They do not scrape the inner mouth and irritate the gums less.
• Clear braces are not weak as most people believe. They are strong especially if they are bound with plasma light. They will stay on your teeth the same way as metal types will.

Disadvantages of Clear Braces

• While the clear brackets will not stain, the ligatures on your braces will which can defeat the purpose of making them unnoticeable. However, the ligatures can be changed every 2 weeks or 1 month depending on your orthodontist visits.
• Clear braces are more expensive than metal braces.
• Ceramic braces are a little less strong than metal braces. This means that if your teeth have severe problems, ceramic braces will not be recommended because it might not be able to handle the force needed to move your teeth.
• With clear braces, the treatment may last a few months longer than with metal braces.

Now that you have read about the pros and cons of wearing clear men's braces over metal braces, it's time for you to decide if this is really what you want. But for the most part, you will decide with your orthodontist as you need his expert advice on what's the best course to take.
