People who are having trouble training their puppies must ensure that they have patience and perseverance in their approach to puppy training basics. The training for the puppy should begin as soon as the pet starts walking. It is during these early days that puppies will be able to get used to the presence and handling of their owners. For someone who is about to buy a new pet, he must ensure that the dog is bought when it is eight weeks old. This is the juncture when the pet is more receptive and responsive to the puppy training basics.

When the home owner chooses a command word for the pet, he must ensure that the other members of the family are aware of the word and use it. Using different commands can make the dog a bit confused. Along with this, the other members of the family must also be aware of the rules for the puppy inside the house. Such rules will not only make the dog obedient but also more disciplined.

Most puppies have very short attention spans. It is therefore important that the training sessions for the dog are not very long and that there are many short breaks between the sessions. If the dog is misbehaving or following the instructions incorrectly, then it should be corrected at that time.

A puppy is not able to hold his bladder for hours. He needs to be taken to his designated bathroom area every few hours. In such cases, the dog should be taken outdoors regularly and when he does his business, then the owner should praise and pet the puppy. If your puppy is inside and is walking in circles or sniffing, it is a good sign that he needs to go outside. It is a good idea simply to take him outside every couple of hours until he gets used to where he is expected to go.

When your puppy follows his puppy training basics properly, you should praise him and reward him with a toy or treat. Such rewards not only make the pet feel good but it also works as an incentive to do better in the future. These training sessions can be a lot of fun for your puppy when done correctly and the puppy will love spending time with you. Most well-behaved dogs are very close to their owners and can be seen playing with their owners often.

Most puppies are fairly easy to train. When they are young they learn fairly quickly as long as you make it a habit to have regular training sessions, praise your puppy for good behavior, and reward him with a treat. Your reward will be a well behaved dog for many years to come.
