Despite Euro 2012 being over a year away, the shrewd punters are already placing their bets on which country they think will emerge victorious to take advantage of better odds.

It might seem a little early to start thinking about Euro 2012 with the competition being a year away and the qualifiers not yet even complete, but there are already some great bets to be had. Striking while the iron is hot is a great way to get better odds and value before anyone else and there are already some cracking odds and bets out there to be had.

The perfect example of this can be seen with Betfair who are currently offering some cracking deals on outright winners of the European Championships next summer. Surprisingly maybe, there is no better value on there than France who are currently valued at 11.5 to win the competition. These good odds seem to be because the team crashed out of the World Cup last summer and had all sorts of problems. But now under the new management of Laurent Blanc they have shown some real quality and have beaten both England and Brazil in friendly matches. This price though will not stay as it is and will most definitely shorten after qualification and as more friendly matches are played in the build up to the competition next year.

There are other good bets out there that need to be snapped up while it is still early on. Euro 2012 odds won't stay like this as although it is early and perhaps too soon to tell how a team will perform, it is most definitely worth taking advantage of, even if it's only a smaller bet. This is because the closer it gets to the competition the more fans will start to believe that their team can do well and put their money on their side. This of course means that the odds for teams will dramatically fall when they qualify for the tournament and the final group stages are drawn. But also, especially if there is a real feeling in the media that their team could really do something this time round. England are another great example of this and are currently priced at around 9.4 on the Betfair site to win the European Championships, odds that will undoubtedly drop as the media pressure increases before next season. So, although it may be rather early it is definitely the case that the early bird catches the worm.
