Do gamers seriously get paid to play video games? Or, could it be that it is simply a huge lie which happens to serve no real purpose? The fact is, individuals are indeed getting paid to play new video games each and every day. Yet, the word "play" generally loses some of it's meaning with this sort of opportunity.

Among the major misguided beliefs about playing video games for cash is definitely that it's all fun and very little work. You can sit back, relax, enjoy great new video game titles, and then receive a big fat check after you're done. Such a thing would really be the perfect job; but alas, that's not the way it really works. Instead of actively playing a video game for fun -- be it on an xbox 360, playstation 3, Wii, or even a PC -- you will be "testing & evaluating" different games as part of an overall task.

You heard right, professional video game testers are NOT paid bundles & bundles of cash merely to have hours & hours of fun & enjoyment playing incredible, new video games -- they are paid to evaluate & test brand-new game titles for developers.

Probably the most standard response to the above is "what's the difference between testing & playing?" Well, its rather simple to tell you the truth. Any time you play a game, you explore & "beat" an area and proceed onto the next one. Any time you are responsible for TESTING a videogame, you'll beat an area after which you'll RESTART that level and play it again & again. You won't repeat this once, twice, or even three times. You do this far more times than you'd think possible right up until you have found every one of the game breaking glitches & bugs in the level. This can mean playing a certain area of a video-game a dozen or more times to make sure that you've identified all of the game's possible issues. Seriously now, does that seem like a "good job" to you? I'm going to just take a guess and say PROBABALY NOT!

Now, don't get the wrong idea here. Professional video game testers will have a little fun doing testing assignments -- you just need to realize that the fun is not near the amount many individuals think it is. As opposed to drinking soda, eating tons of snacks, and spending time with buddies trying to play awesome video-games, professional testers are essentially doing their best to make games more fun for the hundreds of thousands of waiting gamers out there.
