Psychics have been with us since the dawn of civilization. In early times, seers-as psychics were then called-were consulted on matters of battle, upcoming wars, and the outcomes of great social movements within states. Though psychics have over the years had more than their fair share of debunkers, their popularity remains as keen today as it ever has been.

Certainly, psychics have had their fair share of debunkers over the years; both from among the scientific community and the word at large. In historic times, psychics-or "seers," as they were then commonly known-played a huge role in affairs of state. Regardless of the moniker, the job of the psychic has remained essentially the same through out time; to help people come to grips not only with the great issues of their time, but also to better understand the minutiae which make up our daily lives.

In later times the term seer fell out of favor, replaced by "clairvoyants," a French word meaning "clear seeing. " Though the name changed, the role of the clairvoyant remained the same; to implement a set of ritualized actions in an effort to see into the future of an individual or a nation.

This brings us into modern times, when the word psychic is generally associated first not with great battles or world leaders, but with television of telephone psychics who provide-for a fee-a glimpse into the future or an explanation of a current situation. And why not? The role of psychics has evolved throughout the ages; why should it cease to do so now? It's only natural that psychics would employ the communication methods of the time. If you intentionally try to mislead a phone psychic, chance are you'll wind up wasting both his or her time, and your money. Those who enter in the contract with an open mind and an eye turned toward the real possibility of learning something will stand a far better chance of coming away from the experience with something positive to say.
