Christmas is a truly special time of year, and nowhere is that statement more true than on the Isle of Wight who will be holding a number of special festive events during December.

A Victorian Christmas, 17th Nov 2010 – 2nd Jan 2011
Osborne House, East Cowes
A trip to Osborne House will give visitors a taste of what a Victorian Christmas was like. See traditional Victorian scenes and entertainments and even get the chance to bump into some Dickensian characters. The ground floor of the house is decked head to toe in Christmas fair just as it was when Queen Victoria used to spend her Christmas at the house.

Rye Festive Fun Day and Lantern Parade, 4th Dec 2010
Rye
The town of Rye plays host to a whole day of festive fun including African drummers, Morris Dancers, jugglers, brass bands, stilt walkers, choirs, bell ringers and of course the main man himself Father Christmas. Events start as 10am and round off with the beautiful lantern parade and a magnificent firework display.

Cowes Christmas Carnival 2010, 18th Dec 2010
Cowes
The town of Cowes will be full of the joys of the season on the 18th December when the annual Christmas Carnival will make its way through the town. This year visitors can also marvel at a Husky dog race along the high street.

After an indulgent Christmas of too much food and too much drink you can perk yourself up with a trip in the world splendour of a steam train ride through the Isle of Wight’s beautiful winter landscape.
