Chrome Crank Bait Option by Ernest Miller

Seems like just when you find something you really like a manufacture decides they aren’t going to make it anymore. At least that’s what I’ve found. The discontinued clown pattern by Rapala is a perfect example.
My understanding for this no longer being available is the chrome process consisted of two much lead. That could very well be. I couldn’t really say for sure. None the less when this happens with fishing lures it really hits a fisherman where it hurts.
Storm lures was another good example. They made more customer colors than a walleye fisherman could ask for. When they sold out, the availability of many of those custom colors were gone.
Many times lure manufactures try and stay competitive by coming up with new and better lures. Many times discontinued lures known for catching fish work better. Most of the time I attribute the success of older lures to color and confidence. I always tell people my older baits have baggage.
Ever heard of making the mistake of fishing memories, it’s true we all do it and many times it’s the confidence those memories give us that helps us to be successful. Confidence is key I’m convinced of it.
Today is a different time almost anything is available. Anything you can think of or dream up you can find on the internet including reproductions of those old discontinued lures you just can’t find. There have been some options out there for custom painted lures but I’ve been disappointed that a good chrome option hasn’t been available. That was until now http://www.custompaintalure.com/ccglow.html.
The clown chrome pattern as I stated before along with many other metallic chrome lures have been some of my mainstays. With the cost of some of the new lures I’m finding these reproductions have become very attractive.
As many good lures and colors I have. I have just about as many I’ve purchased that I really haven’t found to produce fish. I found taking those older lures and having them custom painted into the discontinued colors that have worked is a great option. I believe after you take a look at the detail you will think so too.
