There are different types of techniques involved in coatings removal services and hence the technique chosen depends on several factors like type of surface material, location of product and also reason for removal. Every time a new coating has to be applied, the surface has to be cleaned and prepared so that a new coating can be applied thoroughly.

The most important step in any kind of coatings removal services is the surface preparation stage. Usually an abrasive material is used first to thoroughly clean the surface which removes all kinds of dirt and debris. This leaves the surface rough but ready to take on the next product. Getting the right amount of roughness for the surface is very important because this enables enough surfaces for the coating to bond and attach well. Some of the common methods that is applied for coating removal is chemical, mechanical, water blasting, abrasive blasting and hydro-cleaning pneumatic cleaning methods.

Chemical techniques are rarely used as this involves a lot of skill and expertise and also specialized equipment but this is one of the best types of coatings removal services and is ideal for complex and difficult surfaces. Chemicals are used to scrub and clean the surface and then apply new coating for the surface.

Mechanical method is the simplest in which an ordinary abrasive is used either by a hand held or power machine for cleaning purposes and then the right coating material is applied. The most common technique, perhaps is the abrasive blasting method in which various abrasive media like sand, glass, plastic, coal slag and organic materials is used for surface preparation. This is quite an economical method and works well with various types of surfaces. But abrasive blasting requires space and hence is best carried out in a factory or warehouse set up.

In water blasting, water is sprayed at extremely high pressures using specialized equipment which removes surface contaminants and debris. It is an extremely efficient method but requires large and open spaces as a lot of water is used in the process. Hydro-pneumatic cleaning is the latest and most complex of all in which a combination of water and air is used to clean the surface. It is best for surfaces which require minimal cleaning like graffiti, removal of wood particles, delicate surfaces and also for residential uses. This method is quite environment-friendly and hence is gaining popularity these days.

Careful inspection and analysis of the surface must be done and then the right method of coatings removal services employed.
