There are many ways of spicing up an outdoor space so it looks more homey, cozy, appealing or even seasonal. Adding appropriate colours here and there and throwing a couple of accessories in strategic spots will help brighten up the space as well as highlight your underlying decor theme.
Some accessories you may need for your outdoor space include:
1. Try making your boring sofa more comfortable and more attractive by bringing home few cushions. Add more cushions in places where you sit down or lay down to rest. Buy them in colours that are pleasing and will go with the colour of your wall paint or wall paper. They are easy to pile up when not necessary even in a little space.
2. Hanging décor like paintings (if you have a wall to back up your outdoor space), chandeliers and lamp shades must be carefully used so they give an artistic result and not a cluttered one.
3. Heaters are an essential to any home in a cold country. For indoors and outdoor spaces, permanent heaters will be good. As you can fix them in a place and will not have to worry about moving them around. Heaters that can be dismantled and fixed up in another place will be beneficial around the pool, garden or backyard.
4. A floor rug underfoot will make waking up just comfortable. Buy thick, soft and heavy rugs. They will give your feet cushioning and warmth. They will also prevent you from sliding on the floor. Look around for best quality, before you settle for one.
5. To make your bed or sofa more lively, get a new quilt. Keep changing your quilts to give your home a varied look all through the year. They give comfort and elegance.
6. Patio umbrellas. These are usually reserved for spaces that can afford to house such umbrellas. To get an accurate estimation of the size of umbrella you need, measure it when fully opened and give it an extra 3 inches or so to allow for some room to move your umbrella around.
7. Each season brings with it a different occasion to celebrate. So people are busy making up their homes to the best of the season. People get the artificial Christmas tree, artificial flowers, bells and lightings for Christmas. The artificial Christmas trees are very useful in places where the real trees are unavailable.
As with all kinds of decorating, the important thing to remember is that the end result must not look cluttered or claustrophobic. On the other hand, it should also not look too sparsely done up, making the space look more like a storage space than an actual area to lounge in.
While gearing up your house for the seasons, don’t get all excited and turn your place into a messy place. Rather find how much place you have for beautifying. Use up only 80 percent of the space, let the remaining 20 percent be left free. The remaining space will give your home some breathing space. People can feel unrestrained moving around the house. The space will again come into advantage when you want to further rearrange your home.
Christmas is a time when the whole city is all decked up. Most business establishments opt for the artificial Christmas tree. This is very beneficial as it is long lasting and can endure the pranks of naughty children and the crowds of people pushing around in the festive season. It is also light weight and so can be carried around without much difficulty. Some trees come with readymade decorations; they give us time to decorate elsewhere, while looking very good. They come in a range of different colours also for one to choose from: green, red, white, silver and gold. These are even more pleasant to see and are sought after.
A party at home gives you the opportunity to put up any decoration you wish for to beautify your home. But most seasons have a general theme. And so, decorations usually go with the theme of the season, like, having a Christmas tree during the Christmas season. Experimenting too wildly during these seasons may end up in a bad taste. So it’s advisable to let your imaginations run wild in your efforts to make your home look better, but, within the theme of the season.
