Isn't it good to have a clean and green community? It feels good to breathe fresh air and drink fresh-free water. Unfortunately, you can have this luxury if you are living in a mountainous area or in the middle of the forest. But if you are living in the city, you might need to buy these "fresh" air and water. You are not even a hundred percent sure that it is really fresh. Why don't we have these "fresh" air and water anymore? It seems that having fresh things are a thing of the past. Once you are in the city, all you see in the sky are black clouds, not because of rain but heavy pollution. When you look in the sideways or alleys, you will see trash. Pollution and trash are the reasons why the fresh things went away and just stayed in unknown mountainous places and untouched forests. Although it might seem impossible in today's generation, we can still save the world from total distraction. We can start by taking part in waste management.
Waste avoidance and reduction is one way of waste management that every individual can do without the need of using machinery or special tools. Since it is avoidance and reduction, it can be as simple as doing nothing at all. But this kind of waste management is not telling us to become lazy. What we can do for the avoidance and reduction of waste is like having less travel. We can still work but we can have less luxury travels. We can save up gas and also waste because we won't need to prepare foods and plastics that we need to throw away. We can stay in the house and do other stuffs like reading a book or playing indoor games. Since we have high technology gadgets today and computers everywhere, we can also make use of a "paperless" policy in office and businesses to avoid paper waste. We can send and store data in the computers for memos and announcement instead of sending it written in papers.
But of course, avoidance and reduction is not the total answer in minimizing and diminishing garbage. There are also other waste management options that we can do to help save the planet. Recycling and re-using waste materials is also a waste management procedure that is widely used in homes and even by the government. It still depends on what kind of waste that we use to be able to determine which waste management procedure is the best option. But in saving the world, cleaning up our waste is a step that can make a big difference for mother Earth.
