Water Purification Systems: For approximately 5 decades there has been a question asked by health practitioners and ordinary people concerned with their health. The question is about drinking distilled water versus drinking ordinary filtered water. The answers have varied over the decades.

Some medical experts claim that there is a definite advantage to drinking distilled water in some medical conditions. Many also say that if you drink distilled water all day every day you are not doing your health a favor. That may be somewhat surprising to you, but there is a good reason for that finding.

The purpose of drinking distilled water is that there is no purer form of water that you can possibly drink. There are issues with that, though. Distilled water contains no minerals. This might sound good at first, but your body does need minerals. We get the minerals that we need by drinking water more than any other way.

Distilled water tends to draw even the minerals out of vegetables when you cook with it. It sucks out the nutrients for which you eat those vegetables, causing the reverse effect that you are going for when you want freshly steamed veggies.

The acidity of the body that occurs when one drinks only distilled water is very unhealthy. When you drink distilled water, you become acid instead of alkaline, which leaves you more prone to osteoporosis, hypothyroidism, coronary artery disease, as well as other degenerative aging diseases. Even blood pressure is raised by the drinking of exclusively distilled water.

The way it works is the distilled water creates a mineral deficiency in the body. The cells and organs are left to survive in an acidic condition, which can be damaging. The body's organs can compensate for that by drawing minerals from the bones and also by making bicarbonate that lives in the bloodstream.

A better way to get your daily water may be to drink simply filtered water. A good filter system with a carbon type filter can give you the minerals you still need, while creating a more alkaline environment. The alkaline mineral water you can get through a good water filtration system. Alkaline water is the long known excellent health drink that can give you longevity. Energy levels can be increased by drinking the right kind of water. Distilled water has properties that actually are not good for your health, while filtered water is very good for you.
