Dandruff is one of those annoying problems that affects tons of people. Some have severe forms of dandruff, others a mild form. Fact is that almost 50% of the world population gets dandruff. Dandruff is a scalp issue - it has to do with the fast renewing of skin cells. There are many possible causes including using a type of shampoo that is simply too aggressive for your skin, others include a bad routine of washing your hair. There are also skin conditions such as eczema that affect the overall health of your skin - it can have an effect on scalp skin. Research has shown that some people see increased occurrences of dandruff during winter weather. Winter can be very dry and your skin reacts to that quite quickly. In general dandruff can be minimized or cured with proper hair care, including dandruff shampoos.
If your scalp itches and you are not using a shampoo that contains mainly natural ingredients, then perhaps that particular shampoo causes irritation on your scalp. This will result in itching and you scratching the affected area. Which in turn will increase the amount of skin flaking. If you are fed up with your dandruff problem then start with a natural shampoo specifically designed to battle dandruff problems. These are usually mild and contain ingredients that will help soothe and moisturize the skin on your head. Also don't go straight for the expensive shampoos, you may be better off with a cheaper shampoo. The key here is testing. If your skin responds negatively to a shampoo then stop immediately and try another one. It may take some time until you have found that perfect shampoo. And yes, you can develop allergic reactions to natural shampoos as well. But in general the risk is much lower when the shampoo includes exclusively natural ingredients. There are only a few elements that help in fighting dandruff, if one of those causes an allergic reaction then you may have to try other methods besides a shampoo. Your dandruff situation may be eased with bath oils that you can rub on your head, so look into that as well.
