Beauty is a characteristic of a person. It is often said, that "beauty is more than skin deep". A beautiful face is devoid of wrinkles. A wrinkle is a fold or crease in the skin which is caused by but is not limited to aging, constant facial expressions due to habit, exposure to sunlight, smoking and poor water intake.

A lot of measures can be taken to reduce wrinkles such as drinking plenty of water. This helps to hydrate the skin and flush out toxins which are harmful to the body especially the skin leaving it clear. The diet is also important in preventing and reducing wrinkles. Plenty of fruits and vegetables are essential. This is because they are rich in anti oxidants which keep the skin firm. Fish is a good source of Omega -3 which nourishes the skin and reduces wrinkles. Alcohol should be avoided as it makes the skin sag.

Apart from food, a lot of other things can be done to reduce wrinkles. Smoking should be avoided as it has been proven to cause wrinkles. Sleeping on the back can also prevent and reduce wrinkles on the face. Sleeping on the face creases it producing wrinkles. Excessive exposure to sunlight should be avoided. When out in the sun, a sun screen should be worn. Adequate sleep or rest is also very essential as this gets rid of worry lines on the face especially the forehead.

The skin needs a lot of care. Most soap are too harsh for the face especially if they do not contain moisturizers. They strip the skin of natural oils making it dry. This also causes wrinkles. Moisturizers should be used instead and the face should not be over washed. Oil free products are good for the face because the oil clogs up the pores, making it difficult for the skin to breathe. Water based lotions are also good to use as they do not clog up the pores.

Retinol, which is a good source of Vitamin A, is also good for the skin. It can be found in anti oxidant creams containing Vitamin C and E. This combination is very good and works well in reducing wrinkles.
There are also medical treatments such as Botox. This is also used in spas. An injection is administered, which helps to relax the muscle under the wrinkles. The skin over the muscle in turn lies flat and smooth, reducing the crease. Other medical treatments include the fillers where the wrinkles are filled with different substances and the laser resurfacing, which involves the use of a laser to remove the top layer of the skin without causing much harm or inflicting pain.

In order to reduce wrinkles, one has to choose the most suitable method. It is not the same for everybody. If possible, a test should be undertaken on a less visible area of the body before commencing actual treatment
