How To Achieve Enlightenment Without Meditation by RafAdams

Often people tend to believe that in order to become enlightened or to have an awakening (the end of suffering) during the journey of their life they need to meditate as part of becoming enlightened. Well, this is a false assumption and here's why.
Lets' look first at the bigger picture of life, why are you here? What is the purpose of you being here on earth? Was it by accident or do we really have a purpose?
The reason for you being here has two purposes:
1. One is to find your purpose in life, to find out what you are born to do and to live your purpose. This is a part of the contribution you will bring to others and the world
2. Second, is to realize the art of Self or enlightenment
What is happening now is that often our minds tend to lead us into a direction in life which doesn't come from our hearts and we get distracted from finding our purpose in life. We often think that money, fame, power and success will lead us to a happy life and so we pursue these dreams.
As people pursue these dreams and also would like to experience enlightenment they believe that if they could only stop thinking, their hearts can flourish and with it achieve the enlightenment. The ability to stop thinking is often practiced with meditation. Meditation will give you a peaceful state of mind, will make you feel more relaxed and calm, though it will not give you the enlightenment, why?
Because your purpose in life is not fulfilled and your heart is not fully nurtured. If your heart is not fully nurtured you can't awaken unless you have a severe accident and you have to let go of anything external. Because the Buddha got enlightened because he meditated under a tree many people belief now they have to meditate. Maybe it was the purpose of Buddha in life to master the art of meditation but that is not necessary the purpose of your life.
So what's next?
They key to become enlightened without meditation is to follow your heart, find your purpose in life and live your life to the fullest from within. Then second most important is the stillness of your mind. Let go of negative emotions, let go of fear and guilt and false beliefs you have in your mind. When you do this your mind will automatically have less thoughts and you have higher chance to awaken. I am not saying that meditation is bad, meditation is a good practice but there is more.
In summary to achieve enlightenment without meditation:
1. Find your purpose in life, you will have less worries in your mind because you don't have to think about finding another job because you love what you do.
2. Let go of negative past emotional issues, you don't carry them with you in your mind and your mind will calm down.
3. Be non-resistant to external changes in life and go with the flow. If you do this you will be less affected in your mind by external circumstances.
4. Let go of the fear (ego) and false beliefs that hold you back from moving forward. Those illusions are in your mind and they stop you from enlightenment.
If you practice all four above, you may enter the state of enlightenment without mediation. Most people have daily jobs, families to take care of and bills to pay and don't find the time to meditate it simply doesn't work for them. I truly encourage you to follow your heart and live your life to the fullest, to let go of negative emotions fear and guilt, to awaken and live your purpose. If you do so, you will experience the awakening without meditation.
