How to Choose The Best Tropical Vacation Spot? by Nico Colotti

If you want to go on vacation to a tropical paradise, you should do some research and spend at least a few hours analyzing different options. The more time you spend analyzing potential destinations and the better questions you ask yourself, the more satisfied you'll be with your final choice. Here are a few questions that you should ask yourself before you make the decision:
1. What are you looking for?
Make a list of your top priorities such as beaches with white sand and turquoise water, calm waters (without dangerous currents), family-friendliness (low risk of getting a tropical disease, safe and stable country etc), wide variety of accommodation or beautiful natural scenery. Cross off every place that doesn't meet all your requirements.
2. What is your travel budget?
How much do you want to spend? Places like French Polynesia aren't wallet-friendly. However, if you're looking for luxurious vacation, that can be exactly the place you're looking for. If you're looking for a cheaper vacation spot, research local prices, cost of accommodation and cost of flights.
3. How long do you want to stay?
If you want to go on vacation for only a few days, it doesn't make sense to fly far away from your home town. If you want to go to more remote places, you should have flexible dates and have at least one week of vacation (preferably two weeks).
4. When is the dry and wet season?
In most tropical places there are only two seasons: the dry and the wet one. If you go in the wet season, it can rain every single day and then you probably won't be satisfied with your choice. Always check the local weather and climate before going on vacation, because in some places the dry season is very short (for the best weather, the best idea is to go in the middle of the dry season).
5. Are you looking for something remote or popular with tourists?
If you want to relax in peace (you, your family, hammocks, beach, ocean and no one else), cross off most places popular with tourists such as the biggest islands of Hawaii, most places at the Mexican Caribbean coast or Florida. Small tropical island nations off the beaten path may not offer things that you can find in well developed tourist resorts, but they offer something that's long lost in many tropical vacation spots: tranquility.
Once you answer to these questions, it should be very easy for you to choose the best tropical spot for your vacation. Have fun!
