Before you begin engaging in chat for adults, or any other chat room for that matter, you should know something about "chatspeak" or "textspeak", which are acronyms that represent commonly used or interesting phrases. This form of communication is frequently seen in chat rooms because it is a faster than typing out the whole word or phrase, and is especially helpful to those who do not know how to type! Many acronyms you probably already know since they have been around almost from the moment the internet began mainstreaming itself, but there are some newer and less common ones you may encounter after entering an adult chat room full of people and lively conversation.

As you can see, these acronyms really do save time when attempting to keep up with the stream of chat filling up the chat screen! There are hundreds of other chat acronyms being used and constantly invented so to know them all would be impossible. Also, if one does come up during a chat session and you aren't familiar with it, a quick search of it will no doubt bring up its meaning.

Smilies and Cool-Speak

Cool-speak is a from of chat speak spoken by the younger crowd but still seen frequently in adult chat rooms. Some examples of cool-speak are : "2M" for tomorrow; "cos" for because; "l8rz" for see you later; and "j/k" for just kidding. Smilies are cute to use when words just don't seem to have the emotion you want them to convey. Smiles that wink, blow hearts and kisses, shake their rump and dance are some favorites used in adult chat rooms. Some sites will supply certain smilies for their users to have fun with, depending on what platform they are operating on.

Carrying on a conversation in an adult chat room isn't all about erotic talk on cybersex. Flirting is just as fun and flirting with smilies or acronyms is just a unique way of being yourself!
