How to choose a Wedding Venue in Philadelphia   by Zene Mary

One of the most important decisions when planning your wedding day (aside from whom to marry!) is your wedding venue. The venue is really the stage for your wedding, and will set the tone for the entire day. The venue is one of your largest investments, and it is important to find one that fits your wedding style and wedding agenda. For example, if you want your wedding ceremony and reception to be held at the same location, make sure your venue can accommodate. There’s nothing worse than falling in love with a wedding venue only to stumble into a major deal breaker!

As an active member of the Philadelphia wedding photography community, I have had the pleasure of taking pictures of many Philadelphia wedding venues. Here are some of the best Philadelphia wedding venues, which each have their own style and personality:

Cairnwood Mansion: A Cairnwood wedding is an absolutely fabulous idea! Perhaps I am biased because I am a Cairnwood bride myself, but you should absolutely look into having your wedding at Cairnwood in Bryn Athyn, PA.

Brandywine Country Club: A wedding at Brandywine Country Club can be a wonderful idea. Brandywine is a gorgeous golf club in Wilmington, Delaware.

Hotel Fiesole is a quaint and intimate wedding venue in Skippack, PA perfect for couples looking for a smaller (yet beautifully unique) wedding venue.

The Racquet Club of Philadelphia is an extravagant wedding venue in Philadelphia’s center city. If you’re looking for a glamorous Philadelphia wedding, then check out the Philadelphia Racquet Club, just don’t forget to snag some wedding pictures in Rittenhouse Square!

A John James Audubon wedding offers a rustic outdoor feel, as it’s nestled in the woods of Audubon, PA.

The Indian River Life Saving Station in Rehoboth Delaware is a picturesque Delaware beach venue. They offer a large indoor tented area that’s just over the beach’s sand dunes.
The Joseph Ambler Inn in North Wales, PA is an excellent choice for a larger indoor venue in a rustic setting.

The Christiana Hilton in Newark, Delaware is a great location for brides seeking an elegant hotel wedding in Delaware. Many times hotels can be a good choice for larger weddings, and offer an easy way for guests to spend the night after too many drinks!

A wedding at the Philadelphia Water Works, which offers a small-sized venue overlooking Philadelphia and the Art Museum.
Glen Foerd Mansion on the Delaware in Philadelphia PA offers a vintage wedding feel at a historic Philadelphia mansion with breathtaking views over the Delaware River. This place really has a ton of charm and will impress all of your guests.

The Flying Hills golf club is a cute little venue in Reading PA. The interior of the venue is very gorgeous.

And for all your Penn State brides, I must mention the Atherton Hotel in State College, PA. For Penn State Weddings, this is the go to choice!

These are just a few of my choices for wedding venues in the Philadelphia area. I’ll be sure to check back later and add some more of my favorites!
