Everybody loves to sleep well. Wouldn't it be wonderful, if as soon as your head hits the pillow you would be asleep? Read further to discover a great tip and learn how to fall asleep easier
Studies have shown that lights make you stay awake and they make you more alert. Especially blue lights are powerful in keeping you up.
To fall asleep more effortlessy, your room needs to be as dark as possible. Exposure to light during the time you're supposed to be sleeping can confuse your brain. This means that even if you manage to fall asleep in a bright room, the quality of your sleep will be worse than it would be in a dark room.
There might be many lights in your room. I have light coming from my computer, my TV, my PS3, my alarm clock and even my cellphone. Be sure to turn all these unnecessary lights off. If that's not possible, atleast cover them up. If a light can't be turned off, put some tape over it. Also, get thick curtains that block as much light as possible. This will result in getting to sleep quicker and sleeping a deeper sleep.
Another tip is to dim your lights at least an hour before trying to get to sleep. This will prepare your brain and body for sleep.
Also, keep in mind that this works the other way aswell! Artificial and natural light makes you more alert and awake. Ever notice how you get sleepy when the lights are off? Bright lighting can help you stay awake more easily, if you absolutely need to stay awake. If you have trouble getting up in the morning, consider buying a wake-up light. See if they have it at the nearest store. I have one, and it helps. But let's not go off-topic too much.
