While many husbands and boyfriends may be befuddled with their partners fascination and even obsession with shoes, ala Imelda Marcos, there is no denying that the shoes created by the famous and ultra-creative designers are truly works of art. And while some of their masterpieces may not be the most comfortable shoes in the world, they sure are beautiful and hard to take your eyes off of, admit it men, you keep looking back.

Walter Steiger

One of the more creative and brilliant designers is Walter Steiger. Born in Geneva he worked with his father, a shoemaker, as soon as he could stand up. He arrived in Paris in 1962 and has built a reputation of excellence with the slogan, “ Where the excellence in Made to Measure shoes becomes Art.” Like all great shoe designers, he understands not only the physical beauty of a specific shoe, but the psychological effect it has on the wearer. It is a very inspiring feeling to look down at your feet and gaze upon the precision, the grace, the elegance of a well-crafted shoe. A great pair of shoes changes your mood.

Visit the Walter Steiger website and you’ll be able to gaze upon his creations like sculptures or paintings. No names are given, no prices, no descriptions of the shoes, just the image of the shoe itself. Your first greeted by a black leather peep-toed pump with an inward curved heel. There are straps and then a zipper on the back of the neck of the shoe. The heel appears to be at least 4 inches. Then there is a lovely patent-leather wedge with a clear heel. Then a stunning peep-toed patent leather pump that is displayed in black, canary and magenta. The elongated heel appears to be made of stainless steel. Next is a leopard-skin wrap-pump with intermittent red and yellow straps. There is a variety of wedges, boots and clogs. Each shoe is unique and they are a joy to gaze upon.
