Liberate Yourself From Sugar! by Michelle Novoa

I've read medical journals stating that sugar is as addictive as heroin! I don't know about you, but solidly I agree! Kicking my sugar addiction took time. When I was driven to eat emotionally, my gateway drug was sugar (ice cream in particular) ... and I must confess, at times I'm still tempted, fortunately I have many tools in my belt to prevent this demise!
Now, don't misunderstand, I do still eat sweets at times, i'm just no longer ruled by its craving, nor do consume it when I'm sad, lonely, angry or otherwise upset.
Liberation from sugar is a process. There are 2 key elements that need to be addressed. The physical, mental and emotional dependency and habitual behaviors that accompany and the reasons you turn to sugar in the first place.
For the most-part, avoiding sugar for 72 hrs will eliminate it from your system... anyone can do this and NO DOUBT, this step has been a part of every diet you've ever been on, right?
Unfortunately, this is putting the cart before the horse. Diets, and therefore sugar elimination don't work because you have not addressed the reason you over eat or why your emotions eat/crave sugar in the first place. Your body doesn't need it or want it (once the 72 hr detox is complete). The body is wise, the emotions are fragile and unreliable; yet we allow them to drive us.
The lasting way to remove sugar is to understand when, where and why you crave it, then find solutions to these answers. Once you do, you find that sugar just isn't that important!
