Moving Out Your Parents’ Home: Is It Expensive?   by Kristine Moline

Usually, the age when a person wants to move out the house and wants total independence starts as early as 18. It might start before that age though but it is still hard for a teenager to let go and not depend on the parents for his basic needs. Statistically though, the age of 18 is the most common age in which teenagers decide to leave the house. Usually this is due to college: they would want to be closer to the schools and universities that they are attending and when you look at them, it seems like they have all the time of the world to their own and nothing can stop them or hinder their happy, independent life. Well, that though is not the truth at all.

The Truth Of It All

The truth is, it is a bad thing if you are not financially ready for being independent and you move out of the house. Teenagers who prematurely decide to move out the house early in their lives tend to have debts, stress and a dirty kitchen later in life because they were simply not ready for any of this. Leaving the house means total independence from everything and you have to do everything on your own: chores, looking for money, keeping the house clean, taxes, bills… everything.

When you were still at home, you can depend on the basic needs with your parents' wages and not care for anything else. You get a job, have your small time wage and buy yourselves some expensive clothes, video games and everything else you always wanted. That will drastically change when you will move out of the house.

Things To Be Responsible For

There are a lot of things to be responsible for if you want to be independent. There are the bills that you will be responsible for every month. These will be the rent, utilities, phone, food, internet, insurances and a lot more. Note that this will be accumulating to a lot of money to pay for and if you are doing a part-time job only, it would be a miracle if you would stay afloat with just that for more than 2 months. Also note that you will pay these bills for every single month. If you have a high paying job, well, that would really help you out but, still, it would take out a lot of money from your wallet.

Getting A Good Paying Job

So you plan to move out no matter what. If you cannot be stopped, then you must get a job that will shoulder all of your expenses every single month and give you at least some savings after paying all those bills and taxes. That is what your parents' sacrificed when they were living by themselves and now you must experience it for yourself. It is time for you to be responsible and lessen the partying and being lazy.
