With fewer and fewer jobs available in the U.S., some are searching for a different source of income, or just looking to change up their lifestyle a bit. Not only are there reportedly a plethora of overseas jobs but some countries even proffer a sweet tax break for individuals laboring abroad.

Money and Know-how
There may not be ‘gold in them thar hills’, but there is great pay for overseas jobs in the energy industry. Of course there is the problem of the highest paying jobs being the ones in the most dangerous areas (Iraq, Afghanistan), but the Mid-East is the high pay haven of overseas energy jobs. Experience in the oil or gas industry is practically a guarantee of hire. Overseas you’re going to work with other professionals that are familiar with all the latest techniques. Get your experience overseas and then put some feelers out closer to home. In addition, make each and every connection that you can. In the energy industry it can be helpful to have someone in your court when looking for a new position or hire elsewhere.

Travel and Cultural Diversity
Can’t afford to travel, even though you’d love to? A job overseas will not only be profitable but afford you the opportunity to experience other cultures. Africa, Europe, The Middle East or South Africa can provide the cash you need and the travel and exploration you crave. You can’t, after all, work 24/7. After your shift you can go on tours by river boat, bus, bike or…hike. The U.S.A. has some of the most breathtaking scenery on Earth; but there are so many more awe inspiring sights to be seen!

An overseas job in the energy industry could be your ticket to paradise. One never does know…does one?
