Everybody knows that, if you wish to stay healthy, you should take in enough Vitamin C. You have almost certainly been told over and over and again precisely how important Vitamin C is to your health. When you get the flu, what is the first thing folks tell you? "Take some more Vitmain C!" Now, though, there's a small amount of speculation with regards to whether or not Vitamin C is actually beneficial in preventing the common cold.

By now you have no doubt also been informed about Echinacea. The main idea of Echinacea is that, if you take it when those initial few cold symptoms begin to show up, you will be able to make the cold stay away. More and more studies are proving, however, that Echinacea offers little more than a simple placebo effect for people who are suffering from the common cold or the flu. At best, the health supplement will reduce the length of the cold by 20 hours. It is not really some sort of remedy.

So how do you stop your cold from setting in? Here are a few hints that should assist you.

1. Keep the hands clean. Wash both hands often. This is probably the ideal and most successful way to keep the common cold away. Why should this perform so properly? Think about it. Your hands are more likely to come into contact with flu and cold germs than any other part of your body. Think of all of the stuff you touch during a day. Every time you touch a product or surface that has been touched by someone who is experiencing the flu or a cold, your chances of getting sick are increased. The more regularly you wash your hands, the less likely it is that one of the microbes you have contact with will get the chance to work its way into your system.

2. Get yourself a massive amount rest. It is often really tempting, especially when things are generally tense, to stay up really late. You need to get a lot more work done. You would like to take more time with pals. Maybe there's a television show you've been waiting to catch. All these things decrease the amount of rest that you are able to get. Your body must get a good amount of rest so that it has enough vitality to fight off infection. Plus: it is while you are resting that the body does all of its servicing and repairs. The more rest you get, the easier it will be for ones body to reduce the chances of infection and get rid of it before it really has a chance to latch on.

3. Drink a lot of h2o. Your system demands a minimum of eight eight ounce cups of h2o every day to be healthy. Keeping correctly hydrated is what will help your body flush toxins out. If you haven't been correctly hydrated the germs in your system will only hang out and get tougher instead of being forced out. Don't forget: your system can last about 7 days without eating solid food. Your system will only last a couple of days if you don't stay hydrated. Doesn't this make the importance of suitable hydration hit home?

Here's the thing: there isn't a mysterious remedy for the flu. What that can be done, however, is practice good sense, scrub your hands a lot, get enough rest each night and stay properly hydrated.
