Hosting a Teddy Bears Picnic for your child's party guarantees lots of fun, laughter and happy children. It's easy to organize and will keep the children happily entertained. It is one of the best picnic games for children.

A Teddy Bears Picnic is a children's picnic for their Teddy Bears and Dolls. The fabulous thing about this type of picnic is that it can be held indoors or outdoors so you're not dependent on the weather.

It's a fantastic birthday party theme for children. You can ask all the children coming to the party to bring their favorite teddy or doll. You can start the party by getting all the children to make invitations for the bears and dolls. Make sure to have plenty of paper and coloring pencils available. Next ask the children to help laying out the rug and setting a place for each teddy or doll. I normally keep the food simple for the bears and dolls, such as a few jellies and we have pretend drinks. (The last thing you need is one of the bears getting a soaking from orange juice !)

You can kick off the picnic by having a Teddy Bear and Doll parade where each child carries their toy around the room or garden, make sure the birthday boy or girl is the leader ! It is also a good idea to have a few adults strategically placed to clap and cheer.

Then the children sit down with their toy around the picnic rug and have a pretend picnic, it always amazes me how involved the children get and how imaginative they can be.

After the picnic you can play Teddy Bear and Doll Hospital, the children will enjoy playing doctors and nurses, make sure you have plenty of bandages and plasters to hand.

Then it's time for this children to have their party food. Arrange a sleeping area for the bears and ask each child to settle their bear or doll to sleep.

After their party food the children will be full of energy and it's a good idea to organize some party picnic games. The Egg and Spoon race and the Sack race work well for children over five, younger children will enjoy less competitive games and I find bubbles and balloons work a treat at this age.

And no Teddy Bears Picnic would be complete without singing the famous Teddy Bears Picnic song !
