The Advantages & Disadvantages Of PLR Products by Caleb Rodriguez

In everything you do in life especially in business there will always be advantages and disadvantages to everything. This is true whether your business is in the real world or in the virtual world.
Take the use of PLR products in your online business for example. There are advantages and disadvantages of using them and as such there are people who support their use and those that oppose it.
Those three letters stand for private label rights and what that means in a nutshell is that someone created something (an ebook, articles, etc.) and has given most of their rights to their creation to the people who buy from them. Basically, if you bought their product the right to modify, re-brand and re-sell go to you - you can do whatever you want with them as if they were your creation.
For all intents and purposes you are now an author because you can put your name on that ebook or article and claim it as yours. This is advantageous to people who aren't really good at writing or are too busy to do the writing themselves.
Of course you can argue why not pay someone to write it for you as in a ghost writer but proponents of PLR products contend you will only be wasting time and in internet marketing time lost can never be gained. If you wait for that writer to finish the ebook you will already be behind your competitors who already have products out simply because they used private label rights.
At the same time you have access to content that you can post right away in your blog or site. Talk about jump starting your business by having content that can already begin to attract visitors instead of you having to wait while you write or wait for someone to finish writing for you.
But the fact that anyone can get their hands on these PLR products is what makes them so troublesome according to those marketers who are against the use of these products. The reason they point out is the problem with duplication.
Since more than one person can potentially publish the ebook or the article this means more than one person can claim ownership of the content. To put it in perspective if 10 people have the same PLR package and all of them publish Article A in their blog then that's 10 people who can lay claim to being the author of said article.
Imagine the confusion of people who happen to come across these articles and wondering who is the real author and who the copycats are. The result would be a loss-loss for the publishers since they will all lose credibility in the eyes of their potential customers.
It will also make it difficult for them to use the content in many article directories since their submission will be considered as a duplicate of what's already out there.
In the end whether you use PLR products will depend on you and your perceived benefit from it. There is no question that properly done you can be successful with it but if not it can back fire as well.
