The Eagle is Captured by Thomas Palubicki

The bald eagle is the symbol of our freedom. It is a majestic bird, soaring the great heights, free to go and explore what it wills. But now that eagle has been captured and put in a cage. Its caregiver says that it was necessary because the eagle was no longer able to care for itself and needed the caregiver to provide for him and without his help the eagle would suffer and perish.
That mighty eagle, once able to soar the sky, was now destined to live in a cage at the mercy of the caregiver. What a travesty when that eagle was well able to fend for itself. The caregiver even clipped its wings to make sure that the eagle might not escape, and once again he said it was necessary for the good of the eagle. That eagle was destined for the rest of his life to depend on the care of the caregiver.
The eagle I speak of are the American people. The caregiver are our politicians who took an oath to defend our freedom but are the very ones who are taking it away. They say it is necessary for because we can no longer take care of ourselves. As our government takes more and more control of our lives, we may have to change that national symbol from an eagle to a domesticated turkey.
It is time for we the people to wake up and realize what is really taking place before it is too late. If we sit back and do nothing, we will be the caged eagle having to depend on the caregiver. Is that what we really want? Is that the future we want for our children. The government has one true purpose and that is to protect the rights and freedom of its citizens, not to be the caregiver.
It is not too late! We the people can still speak up and be heard. That is what I am doing and will continue to do. I am an eagle and not a turkey. And my wings have not been clipped either.
The first step is to understand the true meaning and value of freedom. Next get passionate about it. We must always remember, the power is in the people. We still have the power to vote even though the choices may not always be great. If the major parties don't provide, then we must look elsewhere.
I want you to ask yourself whether you understand the true value of your freedom. I see our country moving toward socialism. Socialism only benefits those on the top, not the people. History has already proven that. The pace by which our government is taking over our lives is accelerating and unless we can put a halt to it, our freedom may be gone forever. Individuals must become self leaders instead of followers, it is freedom's only hope. Individuals must take responsibility rather than placing blame and making excuses. Otherwise, nothing will change. Let freedom reign.
