Time for some wart facts   by Pascal Imprimatur

Among the general public it seems there is a lot of confusion when it comes to the facts about warts. Are they dangerous to human health, is a common question. And whether they are contagious is asked a lot, too. Others ask whether a doctor visit is required immediately. This article will look at the facts regarding warts, and not rumours. Warts aren't all that large, the thing is though that they can appear in large quantities on certain people because of a sensitivity to the virus that causes warts. And that virus is called the human papillomavirus, a very common virus. And the virus has no trouble spreading itself, especially when humans do not take the proper precautionary measures. The most often affected skin areas are the hands and feet. This is for a good, and perhaps, obvious reason; feet and hands are in direct contact with the world outside the body. The HPV virus loves spreading itself, and human behaviour often helps.

Now what does this charming virus do exactly? Well one of its most active properties is that it increases keratin production in wart-affected areas. This is why warts look rough in texture, and aren't easy to get rid of. The most common visual description for a wart is the cauliflower, and indeed many of the most prevalent warts look like that. This doesn't mean that there aren't different looking warts. There are many, and its appearance depends on many factors, including skin and body health.

There are a whole range of warts. Some types are the plantar warts, genital warts and the common warts. Plantar warts are usually found on the soles of human feet, they have a thing for positioning themselves on painful pressure points of the foot (their sole purpose is to annoy humanity). Genital warts are perhaps the most awkward of all warts because of the sensitive areas they affect. Common warts are those warts that make an appearance on most human bodies. They really are common!

Most would agree that the biggest problem with warts is that they spread so quickly. Since they are contagious, and a large portion of us are unaware of this, it doesn't take long for the virus to infect other people. It is therefore very important to use a different towel when you have warts to prevent infecting your house mates, or family. And those public pools.... don't walk around on bare feet. Pools are perhaps the number one area to get a wart infection.
