Top Tips For Buying a Laptop For Gaming   by Mack

When you build your own laptop, there are many items you need to take into account for a laptop for gaming.

In addition to the concerns of performance and spending budget that you have with a desktop computer, there are other elements to consider:

1) Unit-specific characteristics
2) Size and portability
3) Battery life

These three added factors can make it complicated to find the best customized laptop suited perfectly for you. Because there is less opportunity to add to or modify a laptop for gaming, you first need to think about all the ports you'll be requiring (ie, firewire, USB, sound and video). If a laptop doesn't have all the ports you need, you shouldn't look at it! Once you've worked that out, you have to question yourself whether or not the laptop is expected to be extremely portable, or if it is designed to be at a desk more often than not. Don't forget that a larger display and better performance components mean lowered battery life.

For common workplace programs, you can effortlessly get away with a lower performance laptop, with which you will have excellent portability and long battery life. For more rigorous jobs including video editing, rendering, or gaming, you will need a much more high performance laptop, which will be larger, heavier, and will have a shorter battery life.

Typically, for any hardcore laptop for gaming, I would choose a 15 inch laptop or a 17 inch laptop. Mainly because anything smaller will not come with components suitable for gaming. In smaller laptops, the chassis is not designed for gaming temperatures, and they will get very hot. The larger 15 inch laptops or 17 inch laptops have better cooling systems and are able to withstand higher temperatures. They are built to cool efficiently.
