If you are looking for a nice relaxing place to vacation then Northumberland in the United Kingdom is a wonderful place to go. Northumberland is a part of England located in the northeast near Cumbria, Tyne and Wear. Northumberland was the site of many battles as it is on the border of both England and Scotland.
There are many things to do and see in Northumberland like Hexham Abbey and Hadrian's Wall. Hexham abbey has had a church on its site for over 1300 years. It has been remolded and rebuilt several times since then. It has gorgeous stained glassed windows made by Henry Thomas Bosdet. The abbey is still available even for weddings and christenings and still holds worship as well. Hadrian's Wall was one of two fortifications build by Emperor Hadrian in 122 AD and it is one of the most popular tourist attractions in North England.
Northumberland National Park is another place to go and see, it covers Kielder Forest, Pele towers, and the central section of Hadrian's Wall as well as many more historical sites seated in Northumberland.

Take a stroll from the village of Caster to Dunstanburgh Castle and on the way stop by a pub, and art gallery and much more. Take a walk on the beach in either Bamburgh or Beadnell. Take in the beauty of Alnwick gardens with its gorgeous run through fountains and a real tree house restaurant.
If none of those suggestions catch your fancy there are many more contact a Tourist agency and they will set up tours for you of several spots if you can't decide for yourself. Don't forget to try one of their many teahouses, restaurants and cafes because they offer amazing food. For a vacation you won't soon forget stay in a cottage in Northumberland you won't be sorry.
