What are the Best Stomach Toning Exercises? by Phil Rosser

There are many great workouts around to help you get a toned stomach. A few call for machines or special equipment; others only need a floor to lay on along with a little motivation and determination. There are some that are done while also exercising other sets of muscles for example in Pilate's moves, where every move will work the stomach muscles whether or not the main focus is the legs, arms or other part of the body. And there are some that only target the stomach muscles. It can be so confusing, so what are the best stomach toning exercises? Workouts that work the whole body are almost always the most effective. But we have to start somewhere, so just try these simple moves you can do at home before moving on to a more comprehensive training program.
There are a couple of simple exercises to tone your stomach that are pretty basic and set most people on the road to the final results they are seeking. The first of these is the basic crunch. These exercises are better for the body than sit-ups because they don't strain the back as much. A crunch is performed merely by lying on your back and raising the top portion of your body a few inches from the ground, enough to feel the strain within the stomach muscles. The key to these moves is to be sure your stomach has been doing the work and never your head, or arms. Also, it is important to keep everything straight, do not raise your head more than the shoulders or back.
Another exercise that's also great and should be done in conjunction with the basic crunch is a side crunch, which works the oblique muscles, or as some individuals call them "love handles". These are done in the same way as the crunch, but the torso is twisted a little to one side. Remember to do equal numbers on each side.
Coupled with working out the mid section of your abdomen and sides, you have to include several different exercises to get a flat belly by way of exercising the entire stomach, including the lower part and top section of the abdomen. It will do you no good to only concentrate on just one muscle group.
With so many diverse choices many people have difficulty deciding which workout routines would benefit them the most to obtain a flat belly. The most effective suggestion in this instance should be to test several different ones and choose the one that works for them. One workout routine may fit great for one person, but be too strenuous for another. Or, one person could be in better shape and be able to do several different training routines that a novice can not do, at least in the beginning. And a beginner may even just focus on one exercise, instead of a set of different exercises in a workout session.
While some workouts to gain a toned stomach may fit better than others, no workout will produce the desired result if not performed accurately and repeatedly. Each individual should decide which workouts they're both competent at and also are able to do for an extended period of time while working to get the flat belly they want. If the workout routine is just too complex, takes a long time or can only be done using a special type of apparatus, you will find it more difficult to continue long term. Keep in mind, getting a toned stomach won't happen in a single day, it takes time, total commitment and persistence, whatever the workout used.
When it comes to deciding what are the best stomach toning exercises to choose most people find it is much easier if they follow a professional program.
