If you are absolutely serious about being a CPA, there's a good possibility that you are intending on being a certified public accountant for at least ten years. If that's so, congratulations, you are well on your path into a stable career consisting of exceptional pay and benefits.
Cpas are consistently paid good salaries for many reasons. The foremost is essentially the most important: a profitable business requires a number cruncher in order to be profitable. That's simply a fact. It does not matter the amount of sales a business makes or how much money they are earning. Without someone to maintain the books in order, a company cannot survive. If you think about it, it actually makes a lot of sense. Think of the CPA of an organization like the key player on a soccer field, the goalie. Without a forward or defenseman the team may still do okay. However, without the goalie, they are doomed. The Accountant is just as important to most organizations as the goalie is to most soccer teams.
So as a business grows, so does their need for competent CPAs. Which is the spot where you come in. While several other positions in a company are pretty expendable, your position comes along with excellent security. And as we all know, together with excellent job security comes a great salary. In the event you persist with your career, you will probably make the following:
Large Firm
CFO - $180,000-$450,000
Controller - $130,000-$200,00
Tax Manager - $90,000-$146,000
Small-to-Medium Firm
CFO - $100,000-$220,00
Controller - $85,000-$140,000
Tax Manager - $84,000,$110,000
Now, understand that these statistics are averages that were pulled from cities and firms from coast to coast. But by now you have in all probability noticed that the pay is sweet nearly everywhere. Whatever path you decide to pursue using your credentials can only be decided by you. Perhaps the stress and assignments to be a Certified Financial Officer don't appeal to your interests. Do not worry, your license provides you with ample options.
One more thing to make note of while you're studying for the CPA exam will be the need for working hard now as a way to reap the rewards later. For anybody who is intent on making that CPA salary, you will want to get set on passing the test first. Ensure that you select the right course to study from to ensure your best likelihood of passing. Study hard and best of luck!
