As global markets shift from production-based economies to more technology-based economies, a person's job quality and employment status is increasingly being determined by the quality and amount of education one has received. Fortunately, with the developments in computer and internet technologies, countless more people are now able to enroll and complete college and university degree programs without ever having to step foot on a campus. Especially for working parents and others whose time is incredibly valuable, online education programs have allowed people to better their lives without making great and difficult changes in their daily routines.

There once were serious questions as to whether online education programs were officially accredited or not, however, this has virtually become a non-issue over recent years. An increasing majority of online courses and degree programs are now accredited by numerous accreditation entities, and consequently are recognized and respected by many more employers than ever before. Of course with rare exceptions, the majority of online education graduates are accepted as equal to other traditional college graduates by most corporations in the country.

One of the most important and valuable aspects of an online education is the ability for students to adjust their school schedule around other daily life requirements, like work and taking care of the home and family. People are able to complete assignments and exams according to what their life schedules permit, rather than risk neglecting children or taking time off from the job. Besides being able to submit assignments online, as opposed to in person, online students with busy lives are able to access daily lecture archives whenever and from wherever is most suitable to them.

Besides saving on transportation costs, online education students should be able to incur considerably less debt than their traditional counterparts, since room, board, and other on-campus related fees are not applicable. If the student's present employer does not have a higher education reimbursement policy, the student's loan debt should either be considerably lower, or else satisfied much quicker, since they already have steady income.

While there are some traditional education courses offered in the evening hours, the great majority of them are offered only during the day. See Criminal Justice Programs. On the other hand, the liberal nature of online education scheduling affords a student greater opportunities to pursue internships and apprenticeships, even volunteer training opportunities, with various companies in their specific area of study.

One looking to enter a degree program, regardless of it being online or on-campus, should always remember that it requires a concerted dedication of money and time. See Education Online. Since some traditional programs may be better for you than online programs, and vice versa, you should clearly do as much research as possible before taking that next step toward greater success in life.
