Season one of the dvd boxset Prison Break is great television. Here's the set-up. Lincoln Burrows (Dominic Purcell) is framed and wrongfully convicted for assassinating the Vice President's brother. Lincoln's brother Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller), who just happens to have designed Illinois' Fox River Penitentiary where Lincoln is on death row, hatches an elaborate escape plan. Michael's plan involves getting himself incarcerated in Fox River and smuggling the prison's blueprints by having them hidden in tattoos that cover his entire torso. Once inside, Michael must form alliances with a rogue's gallery of felons with their own sometimes unsavory motives.
Every episode centers around Michael solving a new piece of a puzzle coded in the intricate design on this chest—like securing the screw that will dismantle the sink in his prison cell and contriving a fake escape in order to get to the roof of the prison and determine which road he needs to take during the real deal—with one prison drama or another putting a kink in his plans, from warden Henry Pope (Stacy Keach) threatening to transfer Michael to another prison to a deranged inmate coming dangerously close to discovering the implications of Michael's tattoo. Outside prison, Veronica Donovan (Robin Tunney), an attorney and former flame of Lincoln's, also stumbles over all sorts of tripwires, except these aren't set by sheer acts of fate but by a pair of secret agents that appear to get their orders from Martha Stewart.
But with the start of Season 4 of the dvds, Prison Break is no longer ABOUT breaking out of prison. Season 4 totally jumps the shark, as a government agent enlists the help of the sprung Scofield and all his prison buddies to help bring down the conspirators from the outside. The central figure in the Sona prison break is killed, invalidating that whole storyline. Some folks left behind in Panama are never addressed, and the series regulars are just extradited easily. One character, who apparently died in a past episode, is brought back. And Michael has his elaborate tattoo lasered off in one sitting. Guess he doesn’t need body makeup anymore. Providing you're a fan of Prison Break and can still remember when the show used to be essential viewing, chances are you'll get a nostalgic kick out of this. Nobody else - apart from Gamerscore whores lured by insanely easy Achievement unlocks - will likely give a tat's ass.
above is my feelings after watching the dvd box sets prison break
